The tare function of the Tanita KD-404 allows you to add and weigh individual item(s) without removing contents of the bowl. When the display shows 0, put the bowl onto the scale and press the ON/TARE button before adding and weighing each individual item. After removing the bowl at the end, the display will show a negative reading.
